The general argument made by Dan in his article,
Indigenous Use of Media, is that with the help of things like journalism and television, Indigenous people are able "to disrupt national narratives and rewrite them from Indigenous perspectives." More specifically, Dan mentions that with the help of South Dakota's
Rapid City Journal, he was able to share his story and prevent the opening of a military armaments test facility near the Black Hills, which are sacred to the Lakota. He also writes that "people with a voice develop a stronger identity, which is important for our survival." In conclusion, Dan believes that without media it would be practically impossible to help spread word quickly about an important matter to get the support you need.
I have to agree with what Dan says in his article about the importance of media in our everyday life. Without reporters or news, we wouldn't know what's going on around us. For example, someone went missing and there is no fast way to tell anybody about it without using media. Some might disagree that life would be hard without media, but I think life would be more chaotic if we didn't have it. Therefore, I conclude that Dan's article is only one of many on the internet, and the only reason for that is media!
